Explain the methods you used to attract your audience in your AS Coursework
Camera - this was mainly zoomed out shots except for the one of the army hat. This was to attract the audience's attention and showed it may have some importance in the thriller film. A better example of a good close up would be the blood in the Science lab sink, this is zoomed in to, again, signify its importance.
Editing - the cuts are generally quite quick. Most of the shots are about 5 seconds, however a longer part is the news report, which is also important for informing the viewer of the current events in the film.
Mise-en-Scene - the locations on the film include a military base (filmed round the back of E Block at school), a kitchen and living room (filmed at Ben's house) and the news report was filmed in one of the Science classrooms. We chose to film at these locations because it was convenient for school and the reason we filmed the living room was to connect this to how the audience may live at home. When we filmed the living room scenes, we went to Ben's house after school, so we didn't need to leave school during school hours. The reason we decided to film at Ben's house was because it was the closest to school.
Sound - the main sound is non-diegetic, ie the music added in afterwards. The only time we used diegetic sound in the thriller film opening was Josh's news report! The music had an eery, scary sound and it is made to sound like you are unsure what will happen next.
